Game descriptions, screenshots, and even boxart were accidentally available for the game, which had been teased the past few days on the Sonic the Hedgehog Twitter account. The first time this happened was with Bethesda's Rage 2, and now, it looks like they've leaked the existence of the upcoming SEGA game Sonic Racing. Team Sonic Racing will be released this winter both digitally and physically for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch and digitally for Windows PC. Finally, as previously revealed with the release of the first teaser for Team Sonic Racing, the game will feature a four-player split-screen and power-ups based on Wisps, alien characters that were introduced in Sonic Colors. And, perhaps most importantly, players will be able to customize their vehicle to align with their racing style. Teammates will also be able to work together through the use of team mechanics such as Item Transfer, Slingshot and Skim Boost. Players can play either solo or within teams of up to 12 members online in a variety of single and multiplayer modes including Grand Prix, Time Travel and Team Adventure. The game, developed by Sumo Digital, promises other nostalgic characters and environments from across the Sonic universe in conjunction with fast-paced competitive racing. The trailer, set to energetic rock music by Crush 40 (a group best known for its Sonic the Hedgehog music), features well-known characters such as Sonic, Shadow, Knuckles and Tails racing through various tracks ranging from a jungle path to what looks to be a London-inspired futuristic skyway.

The trailer offers a more in-depth peek at gameplay, characters and raceways included in the game. Sonic and company take on a variety of vibrant race tracks in Sega’s E3 2018 trailer for the upcoming Team Sonic Racing.
